As you enter the home you walk through a true Arctic Entry. The wooden floors on the inside of the home are made from Birch trees and were milled locally. All the windows are double pane. This home has air conditioning!
The home was designed to be completely Handicap Accessible. The ramp leading up to the home has custom traction pieces to reduce slippage. The doors are 36” wide. The 4’ stairway was designed for use with an electric elevator chair. The main floor bedroom is very large for easy movement around the bed. The bathroom has a ramp into and out of the wheel in shower. The bench on the wall of the shower is supported by a 2x12 in the wall so it can support more weight. The sink is built to be able to stay in your chair while cleaning up. It is also built for emergency egress through the window. The closet has a wide door and is very large. There is an exterior door in the room as well that leads to its own deck and another ramp to parking. The spruce burl corner pieces remind you that you are in Alaska!
In the kitchen you will find real Birch cabinets that were designed to maximize space and a gas stove to cook on.
The living room boasts 20’ vaulted ceilings that truly make the room feel open.
Upstairs is another bedroom with a built-in bathroom and a loft area that could easily be enjoyed as a library.
The lot is a total of 3.43 acres. You can enter it from 1 of 2 driveways. It is a host to multiple buildings. The barn at the front of the property has a loft for extra storage. On the East side of the property is a shed for more storage. Behind the home is a large, covered area to store your wood.
There are 2 rentable dry cabins on the property as well.
Cabin 1: dry cabin with power ran to it (not currently hooked up). Was used as a rental during the summer. Has an outhouse near it for use.
Cabin 2: dry cabin with power and separate propane hook up to run the stove. Rented for $400/month.
There are currant bushes at the front of the property. The potato garden produced very well this year!
